The Weber Weekly

Where is the spring weather?  Did you see the SNOW yesterday?!  It's the middle of April already!!  I guess I don't feel so bad sitting behind a computer doing school work when it's cold out.  I hope your child was able to get a lot of rest and relaxation this weekend.  We've had a lot of kids out sick this past week (strep, flu, and scarlet fever are going around), so I hope everyone is feeling better for tomorrow.  Even my little guy picked up a nasty cold and croup cough.  Again, bring on the warm weather!

In math we're working really hard on two-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.  I will be sending home a review for homework tomorrow.  We'll be taking our test this week.

We're loving our poetry unit in writing.  The kids have learned how to write an acrostic, alliteration, autobiography, and couplet poem.  Their poetry writing skills are fabulous!

Have you heard about Robert Munsch and his author fingerprints?  We're learning about this hilarious author and his unique book characteristics in shared reading.  You can listen to his books and learn more about him on his website:  www.robertmunsch.com

Our geography and mapping unit will be coming to a close this week.  The kids have worked really hard to learn how to read maps and identify cities, states, and countries in North America.

This week we are celebrating Autism Awareness.  Be on the lookout for additional information and an optional homework assignment coming home.  Friday everyone is encouraged to wear BLUE for Autism Awareness.

Registration packets were sent home last week.  Please fill out the necessary paperwork and return to school by April 25th.  Parent input regarding class assignments is due back on April 26th.

The “Family Ties Committee” is sponsoring an expo night on Thursday from 5:30-7:00 PM in the gym.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful weekend!  Here's how I spent mine:
